Location Description

The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 200 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams.


Responsibilities

About the Role

As an Operations Supervisor, you’ll play a critical leadership role in day-to-day manufacturing operations, guiding teams to deliver outstanding results across safety, food quality, customer service, productivity, and efficiency. You’ll lead with a continuous improvement mindset, empower technicians through involvement and accountability, and serve as a trusted coach and problem-solver on the floor. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, food safety, quality, service, cost, productivity, efficiency, and OEE goals

  • Develop, coach, and engage operations employees to meet performance expectations and company standards, including safety, GMPs, SQF, and regulatory compliance

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate production activities, staffing, and scheduling to meet demand while managing raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods inventories

  • Foster clear communication, accountability, and strong working relationships across shifts, including effective shift handoff meetings

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, OEE, engagement, safety, and quality; implement best practices and standard work

  • Conduct safety, GMP, and pre-operational audits and ensure corrective actions are addressed promptly

  • Support equipment, process, and operating procedure improvements, including implementation of new procedures and equipment changes

  • Develop and track training programs that build technical capability and leadership skills within the team

  • Act as a stand-in for the Operations Manager when needed and mentor other supervisors and team leads

  • Where applicable, uphold and respect the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

Location & Travel

  • Based at the Lawrence manufacturing facility

  • Schedule includes 12-hour shifts (6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.), Saturday–Monday with alternating Fridays

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Management, Science, or a related field (preferred)

  • Minimum of 5 years of related manufacturing experience, ideally in food processing or packaging, with prior supervisory experience

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems, continuous improvement tools, and operational best practices

  • Proven ability to build relationships, inspire teams, and lead through change

  • Demonstrated leadership competencies, including planning, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and business acumen

  • Willingness and mobility to take on broader assignments for development opportunities
